There is a God.

He has a Book.

* All scripture references are from the New King James Version (NKJV) of the Bible, unless otherwise noted.

“For assuredly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea’ ...”
                                                                      Mark 11:23

“Krakatoa had gone ... most of the island’s great bulk, had just vanished, either blown into the sky or collapsed into the sea ...” 1
                                                                        S. W.

  1. Simon Winchester (S.W.) is an Oxford-educated geologist, noteworthy science writer and “unapologetic” atheist. His well renowned book Krakatoa is a marvelously detailed account of the August 27, 1883 annihilation of a small volcanic island just off the coast of modern day Indonesia. Like most scientists, he believes science explains away the need for a God rather than explaining the mechanisms God uses. He chides those who believe God can move the earth, calling them superstitious or naive. Natural disasters are very easy to see in the Bible patterns and so, unfortunately for Mr. Winchester, it is a small matter to use his own expert narrative of Krakatoa to prove God and the Bible as the word of God.
  2. Biblical Year Pattern for August 27, 1883/Hebrew Year 5643 (Psalms 83, 43, 143)
    1. Psalm 83:1, 13-18
      1. Do not keep silent, O God! Do not hold your peace and do not be still, O God!

“The sound that was generated by Krakatoa was enormous, almost certainly the greatest sound ever experienced by men on the face of the earth.” 1
                                                                          S. W.

“No manmade explosion, certainly, can rival the sound of Krakatoa.”
                                  S. W.

      2. Oh my God, make them like the whirling dust, like the chaff before the wind!

“The eruption produced deafening explosions, violent air waves, hurricane force winds ...” 2

      3. As the fire burns the woods, and as the flame sets the mountains on fire,

“Krakatoa became so notoriously active that it was called ‘the fire-mountain’.” 1
                                                S. W.

“(Krakatoa) was ‘vomiting fire and smoke’.” 1
                                                                  telegraph report

“The reports were deafening ... a fiery red glare was visible above the burning mountain.” 1
                                                                  boat pilot

      1. So pursue them with Your tempest, and frighten
        them with Your storm.

“... 36, 417 people died ... almost all of them ... were victims ... of the immense sea waves propelled outward from the volcano ...” 1
                                                            S. W.

      2. Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek Your name, O Lord.

“An angry God - though a different Islamic God - was blamed here, and the local Muslim population sought to placate him ...” 1
                                              S. W.

[The Bible patterns seem to be pointing out that the God of the Bible is not the Islamic god.]

      3. Let them be confounded and dismayed forever; yes let them be put to shame and perish,
      4. That they may know that You, whose name alone is the Lord, is the Most High over all the earth.

“The mullahs calculated that (the Dutchmen) ... had angered Allah most of all.” 3
                                                          S. W.

[The God who included the details of Krakatoa in the Bible is the Lord Most High of all the earth. He wants us to know that His name is not Allah.]

    1. Psalm 43:1, 2, 5 [Depicts the persecution of the Dutch colonialists by an ungodly nation (V.1).]
    2. Psalm 143:3-12 [Describes the prayers for deliverance offered up by the Dutch christians as they were persecuted by the local Islamic population.]
  1. Biblical Day Pattern for August 27, 1883 (chapters 27 and 57 of appropriate books)
    1. Job 27:20-22
      1. Terrors overtake him like a flood; a tempest steals
        him away in the night.

“... giant wall of black water ... picked up the gunboat Berouw as though it were a child's bathroom toy ...” 1
                                                                                    S. W.

“... looked around to see a ‘colossal wave’ roaring up the shore ... taller than the tallest palm tree ...” 1
                                                                                    S. W.

      2. The east wind carries him away, and he is gone; it
sweeps him out of his place.

“The explosion produced ... hurricane-force winds ... and gigantic sea waves.” 2

      3. It hurls against him and does not spare; he flees desperately from its power.

“... a wall of water that no one caught by it could possibly have survived, something so dreadful it was quite beyond nightmares.” 1
                                                    S. W.

    2. Isaiah 27:13
      1. So it shall be in that day that the great trumpet
        shall be blown ...

“So violent are the explosions ... I am convinced that the Day of Judgement has come. 1
                                                                      sea captain

“... the most violent explosion ever recorded and experienced by modern man.” 1
                                                             S. W.

    3. Isaiah 57:20
      1. But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

“Whatever was happening on the mountain was also having an immediate effect on the sea. It was rising and falling, strongly, irregularly, in bursts of sudden up and down movements of the seawater that seemed unnatural and sinister.” 1
                                      S. W.

    1. Jeremiah 27:5
      1. “I have made the earth, the men and the beast that are on the ground, by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and have given it to whom it seemed proper to Me.”

“The notion that 100 million Americans think that the earth ... was created ... by an all-powerful being is sort of mind-boggling.” 3
                                             S. W.

    1. Ezekiel 27:27, 34
      1. ... and the entire company which is in your midst
will fall into the midst of the sea.

“... most of the victims of Krakatoa ... died by the primary agency of water.” 1
                                                   S. W.

      2. But you are broken by the seas in the depth of
        the waters; ...

“... (the wave) was at least 135 feet high, formidable in its terror.” 1
                               S. W.

    2. Mark 11:23 (As Mark has only sixteen chapters, the day count starts over at chapter 1 for day 17, chapter 2 for day 18, and finally chapter 11 for day 27. This is how the day pattern works for books with fewer chapters than days of the month.)
      1. “For assuredly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea’ ...”

“Krakatoa had gone ... most of the island’s great bulk, had just vanished, either blown into the sky or collapsed into the sea ...” 1
                                                 S. W.

“The island of Krakatoa ... has totally disappeared beneath the sea ...” 1
                                      S. W.

  1. Jesus speaks of a mountain being cast into the sea, and right on cue, Krakatoa was cast into the sea on August 27, 1883. Both the day and year patterns lined up perfectly with the event as they always do. The world unfolds according to God’s framework (Hebrews 11:3), the evidence of which can clearly be seen in the Bible patterns.

Simon Winchester is an excellent science writer and a very smart man, but not a very wise one. He scoffs at the living God, but his own words authenticate both God and the Bible as the word of God.

An atheist proving God; what a concept.
