WORDS OF KING SOLOMON
THE REPEATING CYCLE
- That which has been is what will be,
That which is done is what will be done,
And there is nothing new under the sun.
- Is there anything of which it may be said,
“See, this is new?”
It has already been in ancient times before us.”
A TIME FOR EVERYTHING
- To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven.Ecclesiastes 3:1
THE REPEATING CYCLE AND JUDGEMENT
- I know that whatever God does,
It shall be forever.
Nothing can be added to it,
And nothing taken from it.
God does it, that men should fear before Him.
- That which is has already been,
And what is to be has already been;
And God requires an account of what is past.
- I said in my heart,
“God shall judge the righteous and the wicked,
For there is a time there for every purpose
and for every work.”Ecclesiastes 3:14-15, 17
- The preacher sought to find acceptable words;
and what was written was upright – words of truth.
- The words of the wise are like goads, and the words of
scholars are like well driven nails, given by one Shepherd.
- And further, my son, be admonished by these.
Of making many books there is no end, and much study is
wearisome to the flesh.
WHAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT
- Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man's all.
- For God will bring every work into judgment,
Including every secret thing,
Whether good or evil.
Proves God demonstrates with evidence, not opinion, that the worlds are indeed framed by the word of God. Major historical events, both natural and man-made, consistently sync with the year patterns found in Psalms and the day patterns found in certain other books. The cohesiveness of the scripture (penned over a span exceeding 1,000 years) and the foreknowledge of specific events leave little doubt that there is a God orchestrating it all.
The scripture describes itself in the book of Hebrews as being living and powerful and sharper than a two-edged sword. As human beings, we are living and have the ability to affect and change the physical world around us. The Bible shares that ability to affect the physical world, though in magnitudes far greater. A human can move a book, but the Bible is a book that moves the world.
One might ask what of value the knowledge of these biblical patterns is to us as individuals. For the answer, refer back to Ecclesiastes 12:12. Knowledge of the biblical patterns has no more ability to save than knowledge of the collected works of any author. What the patterns do, however, is authenticate the book we call the Bible as the divine word of the living God.
The biblical patterns provide a reason to believe for those whose skepticism and doubt blind them to the plain truth of the word of God and God himself. We may choose to ignore the 600 lb. gorilla in the kitchen for a while, but he won't be ignored forever. Of that you can be certain. As far as our eternal future is concerned, it's only the plain truth of God's word that matters.
What are the plain truths? A few of them are listed below.
PLAIN TRUTHS OF THE WORD OF GOD
RESPONSE OF THOSE DESIRING TO LIVE FOREVER
Jesus Christ died for you that
You might live with Him.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
He is the Word of God.
He is God.
