He has a Book.

CHILEAN MINERS - Part I - August 2010
The Science of Technology, Drilling & Rescue
(posted: December 2010)

* All scripture references are from the New King James Version (NKJV) of the Bible, unless otherwise noted.

  1. Part one of this article references the day the mine collapsed in Capiapo, Chile (August 5, 2010), trapping 33 miners deep underground. The 33 miners were buried 2,300 feet below the surface, blinded by dust and debris, and enveloped in darkness. The second date of record (August 22, 2010), is the day the miners were discovered alive, in the deepest part of the mine known as the refuge.

The miners’ story is one of deliverance from darkness to light and works on both a physical and spiritual level. Not coincidentally, the Bible passages linked by date and numbers to the mine collapse and rescue, also deal at length with the theme of darkness and light. History authenticates the Bible. The Bible authenticates God. Though God hides Himself, He can be seen in the details of history.

  1. Biblical Patterns for August 2010 (Psalms 10, 110,70)

in pitch black conditions, in a room 600 or so square feet. There’s
        33 of them ... 3
“... mine had a sloppy safety record ..., huge cracks in it’s walls ...
You reported it to your bosses. What did they do? Nothing.” 1

                hearing the horns.)
4a. Who sit among the graves and spend the night in tombs; ...
[Miners frequently referred to as being entombed or

  3. Biblical Day Pattern for August 22, 2010 (chapters representing day 22 of appropriate books.)

                     wearing crisp, clean jumpsuits. 1]
      7.         How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who
                    bring good news ...
“From months of uncertainty to hours of jubilation
                     shared by the whole world:
                     Miracle at the Mine
      ” 1 (The first lines of ABC’s
[Then ABC news correspondent, Bill Weir, stood on the
mountain and proclaimed the good news. 1]

[For the first 17 days, the miners had only loaves (crackers)
and fish (tuna) to eat. 1 Also, like Jesus did with His disciples,
the shift foreman divided the men into groups and assigned
      tasks. 1]
    7. Luke 22:14-23, 31, 32 - A supper divided; Satan sifts them as wheat
14-23. “(shift foreman) starts parceling out food for each
miner - two spoonfuls of tuna, a half a glass of milk,
                       and a cracker - every forty-eight hours.” 1
31, 32. “Satan has asked for you, the he may sift you as
wheat ... . ...and when you have returned to Me,
                       strengthen your brethren.”
“I was with God and with the devil. They fought
over me. God won.” (Mario Sepulveda) 1
“Mario Sepulveda rose out of the earth, hugged
his wife, and then embraced his whole country.” 3
    8. John 1:1-10, 12-14, 23, 41, 48, 49 - Darkness and light.
Note: Chapter 1 represents day 22 in John (See article on Day Patterns for explanation)
      1. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
[The miners received spiritual light from God though trapped in physical darkness. Network news coverage, on the other hand, marginalized the miners faith in God by shifting the focus of their faith from God to man. The PBS NOVA series 4 provided a good example of this phenomenon. Notice how the entirety of the miners faith testimony was reduced to two words at the end of the quote.]
“The miners have now spent 40 days trapped under ground; fifteen days longer than anyone in history. Psychologists attribute the mens’ resilience to one thing - their faith. Faith plays a key role ... - it’s the understanding the people rescuing you are technically good, faith in your family that your family has not given up on you, faith in your comrades that are with you, and faith in yourself and in your religion.” 4
[The media’s difficulty comprehending the light was further evidenced in PBS NOVA’s concluding summation, framing the miraculous in purely human terms.]
“Seventy days ago, what looked like a horrifying catastrophe had become a miraculous story of technological ingenuity, camaraderie, and courage - - - witnessed by the entire world.” 4
      2. [(These men) came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through (them) might believe.]
“Many of the miners being pulled from the mine were wearing tan Jesus T-shirts over their coveralls.” 9
“There were actually 34 of us because God has never left us ...” 3
“Thanks to God, we will make it out of here.” 3 (Second note attached to the drill)
“Mario Gomez, ... kissed his wife and prayed. So did others.” 3
      3. That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.
“All he wants to do is enjoy the daylight, the sunshine ...” 8
      4. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us ...
[The fundamental principle of Proves God. The spiritual word becomes physical reality.]
      5. [33 voices crying in the wilderness.]
“In the Atacama mining region of northern Chile, the driest desert on earth, signs of life are scarce, ... but this barren place has become for the moment at least, the center of the world.” 1
      6. “We have found the Messiah” ...
“many wearing ... Jesus T-shirts over their coveralls.” 7
      7. Nathaneal said to them, “How do you know me?” Jesus
        answered ...
“Before Phillip called, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”
      8. Nathaneal answered ..., “Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!”
[Nathaneal believed in Jesus as the Son of God when He demonstrated supernatural foreknowledge of him standing under the fig tree. Numerous details of a 2010 mining rescue, unprecedented in human history, were encoded into a book written thousands of years ago, as if the entire San Jose mine was standing under a fig tree. What does this tell us about Nathaneal’s claim? Does it not authenticate his conclusion?]
  4. Conclusion

God is in the details of the 2010 rescue of 33 men buried deep underground in a collapsed Chilean gold and copper mine. He hides Himself just out of sight, but we can see the effect of His actions by comparing history to the scriptures. Nathaneal had less evidence, and yet, believed in Jesus as the Christ the anointed of God. Perhaps one day we can join with him in saying: “Rabbi, You are the Son of God. You are the King of Israel.”
